Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Ember Lab’s acclaimed action-adventure platformer, is getting a sizable new update and Steam release on September 27th. The Anniversary Update includes quite a lot, from new Charmstones and accessibility features to Spirit Guide Trials and outfits.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, game writer Thomas Varga outlines the goals for designing each outfit. These boil down to taking some “real expertise” obtain, reminding players of the story and characters encountered, and options for self-expression. They’re earned by completing the Spirit Guide Trials. Mastering each one is the key to filling out the wardrobe, and clearing Bonus Objectives unlocks color variants for base game outfits.
As noted in the screenshots and concept, outfits take inspiration from the different Spirits that Kena encounters. For example, the Bombmaker outfit inspired by Hana features her satchel. If that weren’t enough, Deluxe Edition owners get an exclusive outfit, seen above.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available for PS4, PS5, and PC via the Epic Games Store. Check out our official review here. The developer hopes to support it “for a while,” so stay tuned for more updates in the future.
