Kingdom Hearts 3 (13)

Critical Mode is now available in Kingdom Hearts 3 as part of a free update by Square Enix. But what does it do? We know that new abilities have been added to the game and that a heavier emphasis has been placed on guarding by the player. What new challenges does the mode offer though?

According to Square Enix, players will have their maximum HP and MP halved. This is immediately a game-changer, as it means picking and choosing when to attack and when to back off. Situation commands and magic have had their frequency lowered as well.

Another interesting bit is how Keyblades unlocked from a previous save can be carried over into a new Critical Mode run. Though they’ll start at the base level, it allows for utilizing Keyblades that might not be available until much later in the game. If Proud Mode wasn’t your jam, then Critical Mode might be what you’re looking for.
