Kingdom Hearts 3 (17)

To say that Kingdom Hearts has a long, convoluted story across its mainline titles and various spin-offs is an understatement. Still, given all the different characters and their plotlines, it’s crazy how everything has seemingly fallen into place for the final battle. A new trailer released by Square Enix showcases the opening movie for Kingdom Hearts 3, as Master Xehanort puts all the pieces into place.

The song in the video is “Face My Fears” by Utada Hikaru, whose songs “My Sanctuary” and “Passion” also formed the opening movie themes for Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2. We also get a peek at the confrontation between the Guardians of Light and Organization XIII. How will the battle unfold, and can Master Xehanort really be defeated? It’s not long until we find out.

Kingdom Hearts 3 releases on January 29th, 2019 for Xbox One and PS4. It went gold several weeks ago, and director Tetsuya Nomura is promising several more trailers until the game’s launch. Those expecting a long adventure should take note – the critical path/story requires a whopping 40 to 50 hours to beat. Combined with the additional side content, players can potentially clock in over 80 hours of playtime.
