Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning remains the very definition of a cult classic. Though it didn’t take the industry by storm with its critical reception, and though it didn’t sell too well, legions of fans hold the action RPG in hish regard to this day. Soon, THQ Nordic and Kaiko will be bringing it to modern audiences with a remaster, for which they recently released a new trailer.

The problem is that based on the footage shown in this trailer, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning doesn’t look to remastered. Visuals are looking blurry and lacking in detail, there’s excessive bloom, and all around, it just doesn’t display the sort of improvements you’d expect to see in a remaster for a nearly decade-old game. Of course, this is just a short trailer, so final judgment is best reserved until we actually get our hands on the game, but this trailer itself doesn’t make a very good impression. Check it out below.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning launches for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 8. You will need about 30 GB of free storage space to play the game. A new expansion, titled Fatesworn, will also be coming in 2021.
