The closed beta for NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It’s raking in the numbers, peaking at 52,671 concurrent players on Steam at this time of writing. Of course, there’s more to come, with a new cinematic trailer teasing other heroes and villains. Check it out below.
It doesn’t exactly reveal why the Timestream Entanglement is occurring, but a future version of Doctor Doom (with an army of Doom-Bots) is trying to capitalize. Penny Parker and Rocket Raccoon are on the case, while Magick and Iron Man eventually join the fight (after a brief conflict) alongside Black Panther and Magneto.
However, the most interesting teases are for Thor, especially since Loki is taking advantage of the confusion to rule over Asgard, and present Doom, who’s none too pleased with future Doom’s plans. It’s more than likely that they’ll be playable (especially since Thor was datamined from May’s closed alpha).
Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a release date, but the closed beta ends on August 5th, midnight AM PDT. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the meantime.
