Marvel Rivals

A new Developer Vision video for Marvel Rivals is now available, with lead combat designer Zhiyong discussing several topics. He first confirmed that Magneto, a venerable menace during the betas, is getting nerfed for launch. Meanwhile, Jeff and Loki will receive some buffs.

Much work has also gone into improving various aspects of the visuals, like fine-tuning transitions and animations for heroes (particularly the “larger-than-life” actions for characters like Magik and Hulk). Hit effects and elemental decals have been adjusted to be more visible over a longer range while the impact of left-click attacks for characters like Mantis and Hela is intensified.

The sound design features improved ability and impact effects. while “refined” mixing will better highlight cues like “impending danger.” The UI now offers clear prompts for reloading, and some heroes have custom elements. For example, Mantis has a better idea of heroes benefitting from her damage boost.

NetEase will also provide stats for heroes on its official website, including pick and win rates, though it will “take some time” to set up. Stay tuned for more information in further developer diaries.

Marvel Rivals launches on December 6th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. It will offer eight maps and 33 heroes at launch, including the recently revealed Hawkeye.
