Marvel Rivals

Last month, Marvel Games and NetEase Games announced Marvel Rivals, a new 6v6 competitive shooter featuring famous heroes and villains with some inter-dimensional shenanigans. Though it announced Asgard as one of the maps, it’s Yggsgard, a fusion of Asgard and the Yggdrasill, the World Tree due to the “Timestream Entanglement.” Check it out below in the first map teaser.

Loki, Thor’s brother and on/off nemesis, took it upon himself to build Yggsgard as a new kingdom and rule (with some paintings teasing an alliance with Surtr). Regardless, the areas look stunning, with curved hallways, open spaces and even a statue of Loki. Yggdrasill looms over the environment at one point while the Royal Palace of Valaskjalf, where the Asgardian Royal Family resides, is also visible.

Marvel Rivals doesn’t have a release date, but its closed alpha goes live in May for PC players, with over a dozen playable characters. Thus far, Spider-Man, Magneto, Magik and Black Panther are confirmed. Stay tuned for more details on the alpha and full release.
