Marvel’s Avengers Next Update Will Increase XP Required for Leveling

Cosmetics are also getting a rework with less randomness.

Marvel's Avengers - Hawkeye

Marvel’s Avengers will see a substantial new update this month when Clint Barton aka Hawkeye is added to the game. It will also receive Xbox Series X and PS5 support to run at native 4K while the Xbox Series S version runs in 1440p. However, there will also be some progression changes, namely in the leveling department.

The developer noted that usually, the amount of XP necessary to level up in an RPG increases as one gains levels (as part of the so-called XP curve). In this case, it was more of a “straight line”, which led to “pacing issues, such as skill points currently being rewarded too fast, which may be confusing and overwhelming to newer players.” To that end, the amount of XP required to level up will be increased past level 25. This will increase more as one nears level 50, though it will only affect character level and not Power level.

Those who have already leveled their characters to the current cap needn’t worry about the change. There’s also a bug currently which allows other characters to level up if one has several high-level characters, which will be fixed when Clint is added to the game. Another rework that’s coming concerns the procuring of certain cosmetics.

The developer is looking to remove randomness from items that drop from strongboxes or from the cosmetic vendor, Chastity. As a result, random cosmetic item drops, including patterns, are being disabled until the system changes. This will also affect the random chance cosmetic rewards obtained from activities and leveling up. Again, those who have unlocked the outfits won’t lose anything and the cosmetics will be available in other places, including Chastity’s store, in future updates.
