Square Enix unveiled Marvel’s Avengers at E3 a couple months back after years of anticipation, and it’s fair to say that they didn’t get the reaction they were hoping for, with people being largely underwhelmed by what was shown for a variety of reasons. Many were hoping that a gameplay demo would show a clearer picture of what the game is like- that gameplay demo is here now, and it might not change your mind.

It shows combat, with each of the five starring Avengers getting the spotlight one by one, starting with Thor, then moving to Iron Man, then Hulk, then Captain America, and then finally Black Widow. Each of them definitely have a very unique fighting style, and each style does look true to the character- Captain America’s combat in particular looked solid. The others, not so much.

We also get a look at the unique abilities and Ultimates of each of the characters, from Thor calling down bolts of lightning on enemies, to Iron Man releasing a charged laser shot from his chest, to Black Widow going invisible. The demo ends with a boss encounter between Black Widow and Taskmaster, while we also get a slightly more extended look at Kamala Khan’s Ms. Marvel. Take it all in below.

If you’re at Gamescom and would rather play the demo than watch it, the game is playable during the week (alongside Final Fantasy 7 Remake). Marvel’s Avengers is out on May 15, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
