Sony has seen a string of explosive critical and commercial first-party hits over the course of the last decade or so, but not many of its games have managed to achieve the level of success that the Marvel’s Spider-Man series has enjoyed. On top of consistent critical acclaim, the series has also seen stellar sales on a consistent basis, and it has now hit another major milestone on that front.

Taking to Twitter, developer Insomniac Games revealed that the Marvel’s Spider-Man series has now sold over 50 million units worldwide across all platforms. In June 2022, the series’ sales stood at 33 million units.

The newest release in the franchise, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has, of course, provided a huge boost to its sales, having sold 10 million units as of December 31, 2023.

Individual sales figures for its two predecessors, however, haven’t been officially provided by Sony for some time. The company announced in August 2019 that the original Marvel’s Spider-Man had sold 13.2 million units, while a PlayStation employee’s LinkedIn profile claimed over a year later that it had hit 20 million units sold.

Meanwhile, the last time an official sales number was provided for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was back in July 2021, at which point it had sold 6.5 million units. However, leaked internal data emerging in December last year revealed that the game had sold over 14.4 million units as of June 2023.
