Though the description has since been changed, it allegedly indicated that series protagonist Commander Shepard would be returning.

BioWare has begun selling a physical lithograph for its N7 Day poster teasing the next Mass Effect. While there are a fair number of questions to ask, one of those was seemingly answered in the official product description. It currently reads that, “The threat of the Reapers might have been ended, but at great cost including Earth itself. While the survivors are left to pick up the pieces, fans are left wondering what’s next.”

However, as YouTuber MrHulthen pointed out in a recent video, it originally said, “While Shepard and the survivors are left to pick up the pieces, fans are left wondering what’s next.” The Commander’s fate at the end of Mass Effect 3 was left somewhat open and BioWare hasn’t outright confirmed whether they’ll be returning in the sequel. Perhaps this part of the description was a mistake; at worst, it’s a massive spoiler that was revealed way too early.

It is interesting to note the rest of the lithograph’s description, namely how, “A Krogan and its 4-member team walk towards a Geth-shaped crater with a ship that resembles the Normandy.” The identity of said Krogan – or even of the Asari accompanying them – is still up for interpretation, even if the latter is considered to be a returning Liara T’Soni by many fans.

Though BioWare noted that its teams are doing “incredible work,” the next Mass Effect is still a ways off. Stay tuned for any new details in the coming months.
