Mega Man: Dual Override Announced for 2027, First New Title in the Series Since 2018

Capcom is also hosting a design contest, with the winning design appearing as one of Dr Wily's Robot Masters in the sequel.

Long-time fans of the Blue Bomber, rejoice – Mega Man finally makes his return in 2027 with the first new entry in the series since Mega Man 11. Mega Man: Dual Override will be available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Who knew Capcom would act so quickly in bringing back the iconic franchise?

While plot details are scarce, the first trailer showcases some good ol’ classic side-scrolling run-and-gun gameplay. The end is also interesting because it not only features Mega Man venting heat (which hasn’t been seen in other entries) but a strange whistle akin to Proto Man’s.

Mega Man: Dual Override marks the 40th anniversary of the franchise, which has sold over 43 million units. Fans can pick up Mega Man 11 for less than $5 on all platforms, but that’s not all. Capcom is hosting a contest to design a new Robot Master, with the winner appearing in-game. Head here for more details.
