You can always tell when Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series, has directed a trailer. The latest one for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain doesn’t quite live up to his lofty standards (which should say all we need to know about his future at Konami) but it does outline the basic conflict that Venom Snake and the Diamond Dogs are embroiled.

At this point it appears that Skullface is the main antagonist, which is funny because it wasn’t long ago when he seemed to be an ally to Snake. Also making appearance in the trailer are a Psycho Mantis-like child and a man made of flame. The game’s open world aspects and dynamic weather look excellent at this point and we can’t wait for September 1st when it releases on current and previous gen consoles.
