Despite the many changes in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami is working to preserve the original’s charm in various ways. This was reflected in the decisions to implement a classic filter and the Classic control style while sticking to the same script. However, there’s also Secret Theater, a showcase of gag outcomes for some cutscenes, adding a humorous touch.

When first revealed during the Konami Press Start extended look, it was revealed to have retained the same graphics as in the original. The developers confirmed that new Secret Theater videos are included with the updated style, but why not convert the older videos as well? In the latest Metal Gear – Production Hotline, creative producer Yuji Korekado revealed that it was the cutscene director’s idea.

“The culprit behind the original videos is still with us and is actually now the cutscene director on Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. It’s his opinion that the gags are better with the original graphics. He figured that if we were going to use the new graphics, we should just make new videos, even if it meant we only got a few. So, we kept the existing scenes as is and made some new ones in the new graphics.”

Players can discover Secret Theater videos as collectibles from enemies, though the number of new additions is unknown.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28th worldwide for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out the global release timings here.
