Konami continues to promote Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, its upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While the gorgeous graphics are the highlight, it also sports many quality-of-life features, including a new Modern control style. The perspective shifts to an over-the-shoulder perspective, which allows for moving while aiming.
Those who want an experience close to the original can still opt for the Classic style. However, it seems both styles offer different difficulty levels. Speaking to Famitsu (translation via Automaton-Media), producer Yuji Korekado revealed why the team decided against changing styles mid-gameplay.
“The New Style provides a wider, linear field of view, and you can shoot your gun while moving Snake, which made the difficulty level lower than we had expected. However, if we were to adjust things to match the New Style, that would make the Legacy Style too difficult. That’s why we decided to split the two play styles.”
Which one ends up being more challenging remains to be seen. However, fans can rest assured that playing on Legacy will result in difficulty similar to the original.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater doesn’t have a release date, though it’s playable from start to finish. It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out some off-screen gameplay from Tokyo Game Show 2024 here.
