Microsoft has today announced its complete corporate restructuring as part of the new One microsoft corporate philosophy. In an open letter by Steve Ballmer, also posted on the Microsoft website, he stated that the new realignment of the company would “enable [Microsoft] to innovate with greater speed, efficiency and capability in a fast changing world.” He further stated that the changes come in response to changing market conditions, and a new dynamic; he stated that the devices and services chapter in Microsoft’s history that they opened last year with Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Surface, along with Xbox, Office, and Skype, positions Microsoft uniquely to do well in this market.

The entire company is now to be reorganized into OS, apps, services, and devices, with devices being given specific focus as they represent a ‘key area of growth for the company.’
