Authenticity, realism, and immersion are some of the many areas Microsoft Flight Simulator excels in, and even since before the game launched, there have been many calls for the game to be playable in virtual reality. Microsoft confirmed not long ago that the simulator would indeed be receiving VR support soon, and that update is now live. The update is now available for free for all those who own the game on PC (or are playing it through Game Pass).

In an update posted on Xbox Wire, head of Microsoft Flight Simulator Jorg Neumann said that Microsoft’s goal with this update has been to make it “accessible to as many VR players as possible”, and that as such, it supports a wide range of VR headsets, including “most” Windows Mixed Reality, Valve, HTC, and Oculus headsets.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently available only on PC, but it will also be coming to Xbox Series X/S in Summer of 2021.
