Microsoft’s Next Xbox is Code-Named Scarlet – Rumour

There is no timeline for release of the next console, unfortunately.

Xbox One X

At the tail-end of Microsoft’s E3 2018 presser, it spoke about the power of the Xbox One X and about its upcoming streaming services. Along with confirming that the company would be looking to bring console-quality titles to any device via streaming, Xbox boss Phil Spencer also confirmed that the next Xbox was in development.

The next Xbox will be handled by the team behind the Xbox One X, who are currently “deep into architecting the next Xbox console where we will once again deliver on our commitment to deliver the benchmark of console gaming.”

This seems to indicate that it will be as powerful as the Xbox One X, if not more. However, a recent report by Thurrott’s Brad Sams indicates that the codename for the “next series of devices” is Scarlet. There’s no timeline for release and the sources are anonymous (as per usual). Regardless, it should be interesting to see what Microsoft ends up naming the console.

After all, Project Scorpio became the xbox One X, which is a far cry from scorpions in any shape of form. What do you hope to see from the next Xbox, aside from confirmed titles like The Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield? Let us know in the comments below.
