While developer Build A Rocket Boy is slowly inching towards the June 10 release of its debut title, MindsEye, co-CEO Mark Gerhard has taken to the game’s official Discord server to talk about the generally lukewarm and negative reactions that marketing for the title has gotten. As caught by Eurogamer, Gerhard believes that the negative reactions to recent trailers before the release of the game is part of a “concerted effort” by an unknown entity financing negativity towards the title.

Responding to a post asking “Do you think that all the people who reacted negatively were financed by someone?”, Gerhard responded by saying “100%”. He continued in another post, saying “Doesn’t take much to guess who.”

“I just said that there is a concerted effort by some people that don’t want to see Leslie or Build A Rocket Boy to be successful that are making a concerted effort to trash the game and the studio,” wrote Gerhard in a later post. “It’s pretty easy to see the bots and the repeated replies to any content that we put out.”

It is worth noting that the marketing behind MindsEye has been incredibly confusing. We even went as far as referring to it as being a complete mess, since in all of its trailers, the title looks like it will be a generic shooter with driving elements. We believe that the high quality of indie releases in recent times have put MindsEye at something of a disadvantage, especially with the studio taking quite a while to release meatier trailers.

Speaking of meatier trailers, MindsEye got one that gave us a deeper look at its driving and cover-based shooting. The trailer also showed off how players will be able to pilot aircrafts, while also outlining more of the story, which involves protagonist Jacob Diaz visiting Redrock City to figure out what is wrong with his memories.

Build A Rocket Boy has also revealed its plans for post-launch content for the game, including new missions, collaboration events, new game modes, multiplayer modes, and updates to the title’s free roam mode planned for later in the year. The game will also feature a Premium Pass, which includes an extra Horde Mode mission and an Exotic Pack with more cosmetics to equip the protagonist, the DC 2 Drone, and the Silva vehicle.

MindsEye is slated for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The studio also recently revealed the hardware requirements for the PC release through an update to the game’s Steam page. To run MindsEye, players will at minimum need a PC running on either an Intel Core i5-12400F or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU, and 16 GB of RAM. However, the studio recommends beefier hardware, such as either an Intel Core i7-13700K or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU.
