Minecraft’s game designer Jens Bergensten has just revealed via his Twitter feed that the game has sold approximately 20 million units across all systems. That means Minecraft on PC and Mac, Minecraft: Pocket Edition for iOS and Android devices and Minecraft for the Xbox 360 have all collectively sold an impressive 20 million copies, which is almost as much as as 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops (which is, incidentally, the highest selling non-bundled game of all time).

Bergensten revealed that Minecraft PC crossed 9 million sales on the PC, bringing the overall total to a resounding 20 million units sold.

“About 10 hours ago, Minecraft (PC) hit 9,000,000 sold copies! Which should bring the total for all platforms to… 20 million? he tweeted.

Minecraft sold strongly across all platforms during the Christmas holidays too. That must have been a huge help in achieving these numbers for sure.
