As strange as it sounded upon the initial announcement, not to mention the reveal trailer, Sonic the Hedgehog is indeed in Monster Hunter Rise. The latest collaboration DLC is now available free for Nintendo Switch players and adds new quests for earning “Sonic Wear” Layered Armor for one’s Hunter, a “Sonic Costume” for Felynes and “Canyne Tails” Layered Armore for Palamutes.

Rings have also been dispersed in environments and players can collect them, though to what purpose is unknown. It’s also possible for a Felyne with the Sonic Costume to spin dash and turn into Super Sonic with the power of the Chaos Emeralds. If that weren’t enough, it seems that there will be Sonic and Tails figures which can be used to decorate one’s room.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available for Nintendo Switch and will be coming to PC on January 12th 2022. The PC version will include all of the collaboration content up till Sonic the Hedgehog along with the new monsters and true ending added in other post-launch updates.
