The Monster Hunter Stories games obviously never sell quite as much as the Monster Hunter series’ mainline titles do, but they do sell well enough. Capcom has, in fact, provided updated sales numbers for one of them to illustrate that very point.

The company has announced that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin has now surpassed 2 million units sold worldwide across all platforms since its release in 2021. That’s up from 1.5 million units in 2022. Last week, the game was also ported over to PS4, while on the same day, Capcom also released a remaster of its predecessor for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

In our review of Monster Hunter Stories 2 upon its original 2021 release, we awarded it a score of 8/10, saying, “Fans and newcomers to the series, genre, or spin-off sub-series alike will find a lot to enjoy in Monster Hunter Stories 2, which, despite a few stumbles, presents one of the stronger RPG offerings on the Switch.” Read the full review through here. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. Whether the company intends to make another Stories game down the line remains to be seen, but the subseries of turn-based RPGs has certainly been successful enough from critical and commercial viewpoints to warrant at least another game, one would think- or hope, at least.
