Capcom has finally announced its next mainline Monster Hunter titleMonster Hunter Wilds, launching in 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Check out the first trailer below, with more details in Summer 2024.

The trailer showcases some very interesting new mechanics. The mount appears similar to Monster Hunter Rise’s Palamute, with players able to control it freely. The mount runs around, leaps from object to object in the environment and even flies through the air. Combat wasn’t showcased, but there are impressive (and potentially hazardous) weather effects like lightning strikes.

The environmental scale appears much larger than Monster Hunter World, but we’ll have to wait and see if it’s open-world or region-based like previous titles. Also, for those who hate Rathalos, great news: the monster is coming back, as indicated by the tail-end of the trailer. Stay tuned for more details later next year, and more news from The Game Awards 2023.
