Another day, another weapon video for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, this time focusing on the new Boosted Actions that players can perform with the Charge Blade. As one of the most, if not the most, complex weapons, it’s all about charging up Phials and then unleashing an Elemental Discharge. At least to start with.
Right off the bat, a Boost Driver fills the Phials, letting you transition to immediately storing the charge. Time it with a Guard Point, and you can execute a Power Axe attack right off the bat. The real magic is when performing Boosted Actions – one attack appears to mirror the Switchaxe’s Elemental Discharge.
You can also simultaneously charge the Sword and Shield to unleash a spinning strike. While managing openings and timing attacks to ensure they deal maximum damage is still important, the Charge Blade is certainly looking like a menace. And if you haven’t noticed already, the Boosted Actions trailers thus far have moved away from the Wounds system, leaning more into actual techniques.
While it doesn’t have a release date, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches in 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Thus far, Capcom has revealed new monsters like Araketa and Gundoraja, a new Elder Dragon.
