Monster Hunter World Sells 1.35 Million Retail Units in Japan

PS4 console sales also at 140,432 units for the week.

Japanese publication Famitsu has the latest sales numbers and it seems Capcom’s Monster Hunter World has sold 1,350,412 copies at physical retail within its first three days in Japan. This is after Capcom announced that the game shipped 5 million units worldwide within that same time frame (digital downloads included).

The real kicker is that Famitsu estimates the actual sales numbers for Japan are over 2 million units if digital downloads are included. The above figure is still a record high for a PS4 game’s first week sales and as a result, sales for the console were at 140,432 units for the week of January 22nd to 28th.

That would be the second highest sales week for the PS4 (including the PS4 Pro) since the console’s launch week in 2014. Currently, PS4 lifetime sales stand at 6,187,000. Monster Hunter World is currently only available for the PS4 in Japan. The PC version is currently slated to release in Fall 2018.
