Monster Hunter XX on Switch Will Support 3DS Cross Play

Releasing on August 25th in Japan.

While there’s still no confirmation Capcom’s Monster Hunter XX heading to the West, we do have some more information on its Switch release in Japan.

The game will retail physically for ¥5,800 ($52) while the digital version costs ¥5,546 ($49.82). It will release on August 25th for Japan and while the Switch version has the same amount of content, it will run at 1080p resolution when docked. Handheld mode provides a 720p resolution.

Players can transfer save data from the 3DS to the Switch version much like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Monster Hunter X (or Generations as it’s called in the West). Keep in mind that it can’t be transferred back.

Finally, the Switch version will support cross-play with the 3DS version in online settings. For local or online co-op, up to four Switch consoles can connect together. If you’ve yet to pick up the Switch and live in Japan, then you can avail of a Special Edition Switch bundle that launches on August 25th for ¥36,280 ($325.87). This contains a special Monster Hunter painted dock, the Switch and Monster Hunter XX.
