Mortal Kombat 1 – Season of Storms is Live, Features a Familiar Threat

Dark Raiden from Mortal Kombat X is the antagonist of this season, available until June 4th alongside new cosmetics and gear.

Remember Mortal Kombat 1’s fourth season of Invasions? Regardless, Season 5 or the Season of Storms, is live and features a more distinct antagonist. It’s Dark Raiden, a corrupted and decidedly more aggressive version of the Thunder God seeking to destroy threats to Earthrealm. Check out the trailer below.

Alongside a new boss fight against Dark Raiden, players can also unlock new gear and outfits for characters like Johnny Cage, Scorpion, Liu Kang, General Shao, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Rain and Raiden. There are other new encounters and mini-games to conquer, with Season of Storms available until June 4th.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review here. Though it received strong critical praise and sold three million copies, it’s faced criticism for its monetization practices. Meanwhile, NetherRealm continues to support the title, releasing its next DLC character, Ermac, on April 23rd. Story DLC is also in the works, though a release window hasn’t been announced.
