MultiVersus - Jason Vorhees_Agent Smith

The launch trailer for Player First Games’ MultiVersus offers plenty of fun interactions, but it’s also full of references to other Warner Bros. properties. The most important reveal, however, is that Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise and Agent Smith from The Matrix series are playable characters. Check them out below.

Voorhees looks significantly bigger and thicker than his movie iterations but still wields the signature machete. Agent Smith is a dead ringer for Hugo Weaving, though it remains to be seen if he’ll summon numerous clones in battle like The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions.

It’s also worth noting all the other little Easter eggs, like the City of Townsville as a stage (hinting at The Powerpuff Girls). Upon opening the Warner Bros. Water Tower, The Animaniacs‘ home, a katana, trident and broom tumble out, referencing Samurai Jack, Aquaman and Harry Potter. These could all be fun bits or hints at future characters. Time will tell, as always.

MultiVersus launches on May 28th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC. Head here for more details and check out the new PvE mode, Rifts.
