MultiVersus Offers Premium Currency in its Battle Pass, Dedicated Currency for Unlocking Fighters

Gold has been retired, and players who earn cosmetics and items for characters will receive Prestige Currency to unlock rare cosmetics.

Player First Games’ MultiVersus launches on May 28th and has undergone numerous changes. The Battle Pass, a subject of criticism in the open beta, has also seen revamps, and in Season 1, players can earn a new premium currency, Gleamium, in both free and premium tiers.

These can unlock new characters or purchase the next season’s premium Battle Pass. Season 1 also promises additional rewards, from taunts and ring-outs to additional character variants. Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th is also included. Furthermore, players can repeat the final tier of the battle pass and earn rewards for its eight-week duration.

Several updates are also coming to currency. Character Tokens are gone, but Founder’s Pack members with leftovers can use them. The same goes for Battle Pass Tokens, which unlock the premium tier.

The new currencies include Fighter Currency, earnable in-game and used to unlock fighters. New characters will continue to be available in the weekly free rotation. There’s also Perk Currency for unlocking perks and a Prestige Currency when collecting items and cosmetics for fighters. The latter can then purchase Prestige cosmetics, touted as the “rarest” in-game, with no other way to obtain them.

Returning players will receive some Prestige Currency based on the cosmetics unlocked in the open beta. Finally, Gold will no longer be available. Those who have some left get some exclusive commemorative cosmetics.
