Minecraft Dungeons 2 has been shown off in action at Gamescom 2026, and it’s looking like a home run from where we’re standing.
It’s got everything that made the original game as endearing and addictive as it was, while some of the friction from that design has been sheared away alongside a new combat system where you can now jump, and a whole new world ahead of you in The Sift. It’s a long list of changes, but we were particularly fond of the new approach to inventory management in co-op sessions, as it ditches the turn-based system from before for a more dynamic approach where each player can switch things around in real time.
The Sift is another highlight, as we got a glimpse of an absolutely sprawling map with so much to do it’s going to be quite tricky to do it all in such a crowded calendar of releases. However, the art direction and the dollops of charm that this one emanates so effortlessly are sure to keep the lot of us coming back for more. It’s a little over a month away, but we’re expecting great things from this one once it’s in our hands at last.
