Capcom has released an update for the demo for Onimusha: Way of the Sword across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, adding more content to it in the process. Along with this, the company has also made this new version of the demo available on the Nintendo Switch 2. Celebrating this update, the company has released a new trailer that you can check out below.

The updated content in the demo picks up where it last left off, following the boss fight against Sasaki Ganryu. A short cutscene plays, showing how Ganryu has realized that he needs to sacrifice human souls to gain more power, and he jumps off the arena. In his attempts to follow the boss, protagonist Miyamoto Musashi finds himself in a strange new realm, with a new set of enemies to take on.

In gameplay terms, the demo provides access to the Oni Bow, which can be used to take on enemies at range. Along with its combat capabilities, the bow also provides puzzle-solving utility, with many boxes needing to be shot to be moved along, creating new paths in the process. The new version of the demo culminates in an epic boss fight against a large Genma boss – Daidara.

Capcom has also released a brand-new trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a whole, showcasing some of the new encounters that players will have to face. A boss fight is shown involving Ifuu and Burai, which Musashi has to take on together. Along with intense action, the trailer culminates with the protagonist getting access to his awakened Oni form.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is slated for release across all platforms on September 4th. The title will put players in the shoes of legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi in the setting of Edo-era Kyoto. However, the area has been twisted by dark clouds of Malice, unleashing demons into the world and giving Musashi his Oni gauntlet. The young samurai, on his quest to become a stronger swordsman, takes it upon himself to set things right.

Interestingly, Capcom based the design of Musashi on Japanese samurai movie legend Toshiro Mifune, who played the character in some of his most iconic film roles.

Along with taking on a variety of smaller Genma, each with their own attack patterns and tactics, Onimusha: Way of the Sword will also feature boss fights that can range in variety from epic clashes of swords against more human enemies to battles against colossal monsters. To take on these challenges, Musashi has his sword, as well as access to a variety of Oni weapons, each of which can have their own way to affect the tides of battle.

For players who find the demo a bit on the easier side even on its higher difficulty mode, the studio has confirmed that the full game will offer more challenge, since the demo gives players access to abilities that he wouldn’t typically have at that point of the game.
