Street Fighter 5

As we draw closer to the official release of Street Fighter V, Capcom announced a brand new character at an event in Dubai. Capcom Producer Yoshinori Ono announced the latest character to join the Street Fighter V cast, Rashid. It appears the company timed the announcement of Rashid to coincide with the Dubai games show and the character is following the style of previous Street Fighter games in that he will be wearing the traditional Middle Eastern clothing.

Now that we have 11 characters announced for the game, we are more than halfway through knowing all of the playable fighters that will be available at launch of Street Fighter V next year. Capcom has been doing a pretty good job of making sure that we’re all plenty excited about this game by only announcing information in dribs and drabs. This summer, the company hosted a beta that allows people to see some of the characters that are planned for the game when it finally releases in 2016.

While there don’t appear to be any great pictures of Rashid out in the wild yet, there is some video from the event, showing this new character off. The team got show Rashid in action as the crowd attending the event looked on and cheered the Middle Eastern character on. Street Fighter V is going to be a console exclusive for the Sony PS4 but it will also be available for the PC. There isn’t an official release date but it is expected sometime in 2016.
