Next Call of Duty Potentially Coming in October – Rumor

Ahead of today’s special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast, where Microsoft will discuss its vision for Xbox’s future, a virtual town hall meeting was reportedly held for employees on February 6th. According to sources speaking to Inverse, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox President Sarah Bond attended, with the former saying it’s safe to assume another Call of Duty would launch in October.

Spencer reportedly confirmed “future hardware” for Xbox, but Bond also discussed its strategy for the brand existing on multiple devices, stating, “Every screen is an Xbox.” Based on this multi-device approach, this may be the same meeting where Spencer assured employees that Microsoft had no plans to stop making Xbox consoles.

As for the next Call of Duty, it’s been rumored since 2022 and is reportedly a follow-up to Treyarch’s Black Ops series set during the Gulf War. The story reportedly focuses on the CIA while attempting to explore “a nuanced narrative” of the conflict, while the game allegedly adopts a fully open world structure.
