Even with its numerous delays, Level-5’s upcoming RPG Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom looks exceedingly gorgeous. The amount of effort that went into the character design is interesting to behold especially with the latest video from Bandai Namco Entertainment highlighting the process. Check it out below.

Much like the previous game, Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom takes a cel-shading approach to its visuals. The overall result is meant to look vibrant in-game and took quite the effort to get right. At one point, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino says that there was more opportunity to rework select scenes compared to the first game where retakes weren’t possible.

Ni no Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is currently slated to release on March 23rd for PS4 and PC. It was originally slated to release in 2017 before being delayed to January 2018 and then delayed again to March. This was due to additional polish required for the new Kingdom Building and Skirmish modes, which you can learn more about here and here.
