Platinum Game’s Nier: Automata is a little over a year old at this point but the profound nature of its story-telling and characters is still in our minds. Square Enix previously revealed that sales were better than expected and Yoko Taro’s saga of androids and robots hasn’t let up. The Nier Twitter recently announced that the game has passed 2.5 million units in terms of global shipments and digital sales.
That includes both the PS4 and Steam versions of the game. Though critically acclaimed and worth experiencing, both versions have their own set of issues. The PS4 version targets 60 FPS but isn’t always consistent. The Steam version, meanwhile, has issues with its resolution and no official patch yet despite constant complaints. There is an unofficial patch available though.
Though we don’t know what the next Nier could look like, it does seem like Yoko Taro will be returning for it. At this point, we’ll have to wait and see what Square Enix has in store. In the meantime, you can pick up Nier: Automata for 50 percent off on Steam.
