Project Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler is now out and making waves all around the world– but it’s hard to believe that a game that, on the face of it seems so humble and unassuming, could have done so at all. On one hand, it does make sense- the game is a labor of love made by fans of 16-bit RPGs, who wanted nothing more than to make a new one in their vein. And it seems like they have succeeded in their attempts.

In a new video put out by Nintendo, Octopath Traveler producer Masashi Takahashi and director Keisuke Miyauchi answer eight questions about the game, from questions about the game’s development (such as what inspired the innovative Boost and Break mechanics) to ones about how the demo released for the game last year and the feedback that came from it influenced development on the title. It’s really enlightening, and if you are a fan of the game, you should definitely check it out below.

Octopath Traveler is out now, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, and it’s been selling very, very well. And for good reason too- it’s an excellent game. Read our review here.
