Starry Studio and NetEase Games have announced that Once Human is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 25th. The release will coincide with the introduction of a first-person perspective mode and full cross-platform multiplayer and progression. Check out the new trailer below.
It kicks things off by showing a character trying to escape from some of the game’s enemies while in first-person mode. As it goes on, it also showcases how the mode will look in actual gameplay, with the player taking on some enemies with guns and even looting for resources. The vehicle system won’t be left behind either, with the character showcased on a bike.
When it comes to performance and visuals, Once Human on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will give players the choice between Quality and Performance modes. The former will deliver 4K visuals at 60 FPS, while the latter will sacrifice some resolution to offer smooth 120 FPS gameplay. There have also been improvements made to the control scheme of the title, with a bespoke controller experience that even makes use of the DualSense’s haptic engine to deliver “distinct low-frequency rumbles for giant monsters, precise trigger resistance during boss battles, and elastic tactile feedback for loot drops.”
While Once Human is a free-to-play game, Starry Studio has kicked off pre-orders for two gift packages for the upcoming console release – the Starter Pack for $9.99 and the Radiance Pack for $14.99. The Starter Pack includes the Black Gold Butterfly cradle skin, 3 Midnight Rave weapon skins, a 30-day Metapass, a special home facility skin, and customization items for the player’s profile. The Radiance Pack includes Outfit Selection featuring 3 character skins, a Premium Battle Pass, a 30-day Metapass, 2 Siderite lottery skins, and an exclusive avatar frame.
The console release date announcement comes just a month after Starry Studio kicked off a beta test on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It included the Novice Scenario, Manibus, Endless Dream, The Way of Winter, and RaidZone scenarios. Content from Visional Wheel S3: Aberrant Progeny was also included. The beta’s release coincided with Starry Studio kicking off an in-game event that would encourage players to provide feedback on the console ports.
Players who have already spent time with the PC, Android, or iOS versions of Once Human can link their game account to their PlayStation or Xbox profiles for a smoother transition between platforms.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release of Once Human was first announced last year, and at the time, Starry Studio had said that the ports would support keyboard and mouse.
Once Human is in the midst of celebrating its second anniversary with the Dreamy Maelstrom event while Season 13 is currently ongoing.
