Winner: Spec Ops: The Line & Journey
Obviously there’s going to be spoilers for this bit.
In a dead heat between two games which couldn’t be more different, yet at the same time have a bizarre sense of deja vu about them. Obviously I’m talking about the sand, because at no point in Journey do you inadvertently kill 78 civillians in the most horrific way possible, leading you to not only question your own in-game morality, but the entire shooter genre. Journey ends somewhat differently to Spec Ops too, the post-mountain death-but-not-death is one of the most uplifting, literally, sequences to basically any game ever.
