Overwatch 2

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 launched recently for consoles and PC, but you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. The hero shooter, which is free-to-play, suffered a DDoS attack at launch and has been facing numerous server issues ever since. In a recent tweet, game director Aaron Keller provided an update, assuring players that the team was making “progress on server issues and stability.”

“We’re steadily making progress on server issues and stability, as well as working through a second DDoS attack. We’re all hands on deck and will continue to work throughout the night. Thank you for your patience – we’ll share more info as it becomes available.”

As of now, players may still encounter the “Unexpected Server Error” message when logging in. Others are facing long queue times to even get into the game. It doesn’t account for other issues, like some cosmetics not carrying over from the first game. Expect various fixes and updates on the game in the coming days.

Overwatch 2 is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. In addition to cross-platform play and cross-progression, it removes Assault and its maps from Quick Play while adding the new Push mode and three new heroes. Check out the full patch notes for launch here.
