The wait for Overwatch 2 was a very long one for millions, but though Blizzard Entertainment’s online hero shooter is finally out now, it hasn’t got off to the greatest of starts. Immediately after launch, the game was hit with mass DDoS attacks, which meant many were unable to access the game at all, and it’s something that Blizzard is still working on. Meanwhile, in response to widespread backlash against the game’s prepaid phone restrictions, Blizzard has had to make other early changes as well.
Another new bug has now been reported by a number of Overwatch 2 players as well. Over on Reddit, several users have brought up a bug that causes inputs in the chat to be read as commands for unlocking new skins, which leads to credits accidentally being spent while players are still in the chat. So far, based on Blizzard’s responses to users bringing the issue to the developer, it doesn’t look like any refunds are going to be issued for these purchases.
Online games launching with technical issues is by no mans an uncommon occurrence (it’s almost expected, in fact), but Overwatch 2’s launch problems seem to be particularly egregious. That’s not the first time that has happened with Blizzard releases either, so hopefully it won’t be long before the developer can sort out the most major issues.
Overwatch 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
