Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch has received a new burst of life on Twitch thanks to the recent closed beta for Overwatch 2’s PvP. As revealed on the official Twitter, Overwatch had 1.5 million concurrent views on the streaming platform. This is the highest ever for the hero shooter.
A limited-time Twitch drops event occurred from 10 AM PT to 6 PM yesterday and guaranteed beta access for those who watched four hours. It’s likely this is the reason for the high viewer counts. But with new content after so long, it’s not surprised for viewers wanting to see how their favorite streamers would react.
The closed beta, which is live until May 17th (depending on the developer’s needs), offers four brand new maps with New Queen Street, Colosseo, Circuit Royal and Midtown. The new Push mode is also available where both teams fight over control for a robot who must be escorted to the finish line (a la VIP Escort mode in Call of Duty). Sojourn, the first new hero since Echo, is also playable along with reworks for Doomfist, Bastion, Sombra and Orisa.
About to get real!
