Overwatch 2 - Amaterasu Kiriko - Season 3

Season 3 of Overwatch 2 kicked off recently, bringing a new Control map, Battle Pass, and several changes, like the return of Overwatch Credits. In a “Director’s Take” article, game director Aaron Keller provided a brief update. While the team didn’t have a “pulse on the balance for Season 3 yet,” due to the article being written mere hours after it went live, it’s aiming to get details out on balance soon.

“We aim to get balance information out to you all on or before my next update, and if it looks like there are big issues with the balance, we would intend to fix them before the mid-season patch.”

Arcade Mode is also under discussion, with Keller noting a “few issues” with it, like very long queue times in some modes. The fact that some Challenges required playing Arcade didn’t help either.

In the short term, the team is “looking at reducing the number of cards, rolling some game modes together in a rotating queue or both. Long-term could be the addition of new modes or possibly a change to the feature.” He also confirmed that a quick fix went out to balance out the frequency of Push maps, though depending on how big the effect is, “we might need to do more to this in the future.”

Overwatch 2: Season 3 has quite a lot of content coming. Ultimate Valentine starts tomorrow and runs until February 28th, granting a new Cupid Hanzo skin as a reward. A collab with One Punch Man takes place from March 7th to April 6th with Doomfist as Saitama. The Overwatch World Cup is also coming back later this month. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
