Modify existing game modes, change heroes' abilities, and share your creations with others.

Overwatch

Ever since Overwatch launched in 2016, many erstwhile hero shooter veterans have wondered if it would ever get mods. While Custom Games and the game browser were neat, they didn’t quite have the power that modders expected. Until now, that is- with the announcement of the Workshop.

Currently live on the Public Test Realm server for PC players, the Workshop allows for creating scripts to modify game modes. This means creating advanced conditions and rules, changing how a hero’s movement and abilities work, and so on. Players can also share their unique game modes with others and debug scripts using the Inspector.

The Workshop will be coming to both PC and consoles when it’s live. A few examples of what the tool is capable of can be seen on the PTS with two unique modes: Molten Floor, where players must stay off of the ground lest they burn; and Mirrored Deathmatch (Free For All) where everyone plays as the same hero for a minute before rotating. Check out the latest developer update for more details below.
