A lot of Overwatch fans and players are expecting the next character in the game to be Doomfist- a character who has been referenced in the game’s lore, and the CG videos introducing the plot setup and characters for the game. In fact, the new patch for Overwatch even added another overt reference to Doomfist, making the community even more convinced that he is, in fact, coming, and will be the 24th character in the game.
However, this may all just be a red herring- according to game director Jeff Kaplan, the game’s 24th hero is not who we think he is. Speaking on the official forums, Kaplan dropped this tease, but refused to elaborate anymore. It’s the equivalent of having a sand castle all washed up, and having nothing else to build a new sand castle with.
So who, then, is the new character in Overwatch? We don’t know, and Blizzard won’t tell us. I suppose it will have to be a complete and total surprise.
