Persona 5’s updated version, Persona 5 Royal, is coming this year to Japan, with a western release following some time in 2020. The extended edition of the game is promising a lot of added content, even more so than the previous game, Persona 4 got when it received an enhanced version. Today, we got a bit of a longer peek at an event you’ll get to experience in Royal that wasn’t in the original game.
You can check out the video below, where the gang is participating in Hatsumode, an annual New Years tradition where you visit a Shinto Shrine. We saw a bit of this before in previous footage, but this is longer and with audio. It will be part of the third semester addition content the game will have. The original title, despite being quite long even by Persona standards, infamously skipped over that time period in a somewhat clunky way. That seems to be a big crux of where the new content could potentially be centered.
Persona 5 Royal is slated to release exclusively on PlayStation 4 in Japan in October, with a worldwide release in 2020. You can also check out the spin-off title that was announced beside this game, Persona 5 Scramble.
