Following its delay from September to late October, S-Game’s Phantom Blade Zero has completed development. Pre-orders will kick off on August 11th at 7 AM PT, but that’s not all – the team has an 11-minute trailer releasing on the same day featuring “new story content, characters, combat, and something unexpected.”

It’s accompanied by a short teaser featuring Mu Xiaokui, daughter of The Order’s founder. A fire burns before her, though we don’t see exactly what, and she soon departs in what seems to be a hot-air balloon. We’ll probably learn the full context of the scene in next week’s trailer, so stay tuned.

As for the “something unexpected,” perhaps it’s S-Game announcing that the Wuxia hack-and-slash title will be coming to Xbox Series X/S (which it hadn’t entirely ruled out back in 2024). Alternatively, it could finally drop the playable demo promised years ago, finally allowing us to go hands-on with its particular brand of combat.

Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29th for PS5 and PC (and no, it’s not concerned about launching so close to Grand Theft Auto 6). The story follows Soul, a former assassin for The Order who has 66 days to live. Besides the main story, which should take about 20 to 30 hours to finish, players can indulge in side quests that can “influence” the narrative. There isn’t an “honor system” per se, but a “bigger, macroscopic impact” can be observed.
