Platinum Talks Scalebound Cancellation, “Disappointed Things Ended This Way”

Nonetheless, studio will continue "delivering high-quality games".

After much speculation and rumours about the cancellation of Platinum Games’ Scalebound for the Xbox One and PC by Microsoft, the studio’s president and CEO Kenichi Sato issued a public statement on its official blog.

Sato said that, “We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.”

However, this doesn’t mean the studio is wanting for work and Sato said that, “Going forward, we will strive to continue delivering high-quality games to you, starting with NieR: Automata in March, and including products like Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link and Lost Order in the future.”

Sato didn’t mention what exactly went wrong or the current status of director Hideki Kamiya (who was rumoured to be taking time for mental health reasons). Nonetheless, Platinum is far from out of work and has more in store for the coming days.
