While everyone is talking about game streaming in the future, Sony has actually been active in that aspect of gaming for quite some time with PlayStation Now. The service has been running long before Google or Microsoft wanted to get into streaming, and now it’s reached a new milestone with an impressive amount of subscribers.
During Sony’s second quarter earnings call, it was revealed that the service has now hit 1 million subscribers. This comes not too long after the service saw a price cut as well as a renewed marketing push. The last reported number for Now was 700,000 back in April of this year, so it’s seen quite the jump in that time period.
We know that PS Now will be available on the upcoming PlayStation 5, and that Sony is looking at the service as a much bigger pillar in their overall gaming strategy going forward. With streaming possibly becoming a bigger part of the industry, Sony has quite the head start with the infrastructure and built in user base.
