Nintendo and Microsoft have both held major events over the last couple of weeks to showcase some of their upcoming releases for 2023, and PlayStation fans are beginning to wonder whether we can expect something similar from Sony in the near future as well. As it turns out, that may very well be the case.

Speaking recently during his Game Mess Decides podcast, journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that Sony has a State of Play presentation scheduled for sometime in the next month, if not sooner, though a specific date isn’t yet know.

As for what the presentation will showcase, Grubb says fans shouldn’t get their hopes up too high, since it’s going to be a fairly “low-key” affair, with Sony apparently choosing to hold back its bigger reveals and announcements for a full-fledged PlayStation Showcase, which is scheduled for “E3-time”, which would likely mean June.

With PS VR2 launching later this month, one would assume that Sony will have new games for the headset to showcase as part of the purported State of Play event. As for the showcase some months down the line, it’s possible that we get to see Marvel’s Spider-Man 2which is due out this Fall, and Naughty Dog’s standalone multiplayer The Last of Us game.

Sony has yet to make any official announcement regarding plans for upcoming events, but if a State of Play presentation is indeed coming soon, presumably, it’ll be announced in the near future. Stay tuned in the coming days for more updates.
