After Microsoft expanded its first-party titles to other platforms and saw significant success, it seems that Sony may be venturing in the same direction.

According to a new Greehouse listing, PlayStation is hiring for a Senior Director, Multiplatform and Account Management, where candidates will “play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the global commercial strategy for PlayStation Studios software titles across all digital platforms beyond PlayStation hardware, including Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox, Nintendo, and mobile.”

On top of “optimizing title profitability, ensuring cross-functional alignment, and leading a high-performing team focused on multiplatform expansion,” they will also oversee the “out-of-year (mid-range) commercial strategy for PlayStation Studios titles across all non-PlayStation platforms, driving long-term revenue growth and audience reach.” Leading “platform relationships” for PC and other “console ecosystems” (including Steam, Epic Games, Xbox and Nintendo) to ensure “strong collaboration, promotional effectiveness, and performance optimization” is also required.

Sony is no stranger to releasing its titles on other consoles, as seen with the MLB The Show series. Helldivers 2 is also slated for Xbox Series X/S next month after launching for PS5 and PC in February 2024.

While it may not necessarily bring all of its major first-party titles to Xbox or the Switch 2 anytime soon, it’s certainly making plans for more multiplatform releases. If nothing else, it could be laying the groundwork to port smaller titles like LEGO Horizon Adventures or other live service efforts. As always, time will tell how this pans out, so stay tuned for updates.
